The following pages document the customizing of specification types. Although specification types basically represent the logical starting point for subsequent synchronization with SAP standard objects such as MARA (material), MARC (plant-dependent settings for the material) and MKAL (production version), the technical implementation in QPPD requires a different sequence.

Within customizing, specification types can only be linked to object types if they have been defined in the system beforehand. The documentation structure therefore begins with the creation of the basic structures: elements, object types and item categories. Only then are the specification types created and set up. This sequence ensures that all referenced objects are technically available and can be assigned correctly. Once customizing is complete, synchronization with the relevant SAP objects can take place.
