QPPD has archiving functionality that is fully integrated into the SAP Standard Archive Development Kit (ADK). In addition to standard archiving, so-called version archiving exists.

Via this, QPPD offers the possibility to archive all QPPD objects. This may be necessary if the QPPD tables become too large and system or program performance is poor as a result.

Use case scenarios

  • QPPD tables contain too much data → triggering by QPPD

  • Dependent objects in SD or MM are archived and referenced QPPD objects are no longer needed productively → Initiation by other departments

This How-To shows which settings have to be made and how archiving can be used in QPPD.

The customizing of archiving for QPPD objects mainly depends on the selected archiving object. For further information on archiving, please refer to the standard SAP documentation on archiving.

To be able to use the archiving function, SAP Basis has to make some settings for the storage path/content repository

Generally, the steps for archiving are performed in standard transactions

1. Settings/ Customizing

Transactions AOBJ and SARA are used to check whether all necessary settings are available.

2. The actual Archiving

Mark, write, delete, and display data for archiving.

3. Exceptions

Restore archived data.
